My First Trip to Maui by Myself

This video is important to me because it was the first trip I completely orchestrated by myself.

I always start the story about this trip by saying, “well, I looked at how much it would cost to move out and decided to go to Hawaii instead.” Which is actually completely true. My friends asked me to move into a house with them. After seeing that I could afford it, I thought, why pay rent at 21 when I could go on a trip instead! I stand by that. If you can live at home and travel, I highly recommend it.

I found cheap flights and booked them. By myself.

I’d asked my friends if they wanted to go, but no one was interested. Instead of letting this stop me, I looked up hostels and decided to go by myself.

It wasn’t the first time I had gone somewhere alone (I lived in Germany by myself for close to a year) so I wasn’t too intimidated by the thought of going alone. I found a place to stay and was really excited by the prospect of being on the beaches while everyone else would be having a cold October in Utah.

However, when I told one of my friends that I’d found super cheap flights to Maui, she asked if she could come too and I was happy to have the company. She was a great friend and I was excited to be having a girls trip together.

The trip was absolutely amazing. And not just because we spent all our time hangin out with cool people and relaxing on beaches. I felt so proud of myself for making a trip like this happen without any outside help.

It was the first of many ;)
